Does the preoperative neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio have a prognostic value in aneurysmal bone cysts?

Abstract: Objectives The aim of this study was to evaluate the prognostic value of neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), lymphocyte-tomonocyte ratio (LMR), and platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) in aneurysmal bone cysts (ABCs). Patients and methods Between February 2001 and August 2019, a total of 86 patients (44 males, 42 females; mean age: 21.5±15.2 years; range, 2 to 73 years) with a histologically confirmed diagnosis of ABCs who did not receive cancer treatment previously and… Show more

“…These white blood cell populations are involved in the patho-mechanisms of inflammation and stress disorders at the same time [ 8 , 9 ]. In humans, NLR, MLR, and platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) values were studied as inflammatory markers in various conditions for diagnostic and prognostic purposes [ 2 , 8 , 10 , 11 , 12 , 13 , 14 ]. High values of NLR and MLR were considered accurate additional markers in the diagnosis of acute coronary syndrome [ 8 ].…”

“…High values of NLR and MLR were considered accurate additional markers in the diagnosis of acute coronary syndrome [ 8 ]. The NLR value was found to be positively correlated with the severity of the clinical course in critically ill patients [ 2 ], and increased values were associated with a higher risk of recurrence of aneurysmal bone cysts [ 12 ]. In patients with lymphadenopathy, MLR values were higher in those diagnosed with lymphoma [ 10 ].…”
