“…Experimental data were fitted using the genetic algorithm (DE) proposed by Price (1996, 1997) and used successfully to description of many systems Furmaniak, Terzyk, Gauden, & Rychlicki, 2006;Furmaniak, Terzyk, Szymań ski et al, 2006;Furmaniak et al, 2008;Gauden, 2005;Terzyk et al, 2007;Terzyk, Wiśniewski, Gauden, Rychlicki, & Furmaniak, 2008), also in the field of food science engineering (Furmaniak, Terzyk, Gauden, & Rychlicki, 2007;Furmaniak, Terzyk, Czepirski et al, 2007).…”

“…DS3 (Barton et al 1991) claims that the relative humidity when a = 0 is usually more than 1/3, and that the derivative da/dp there is large; this is clearly aphysical. The Corrected DS equation (CDS) (Gauden 2005) was proposed by Gauden and contains an extended empirical factor to improve on DS4 at relative pressures less than 10%, but due to the limitations of our experimental system, we do not have adsorption data at relative pressures between 0% and 10%. The CDS can also be shown to not be independent of units, because of logarithms and exponentials in its formula.…”

“…3 shows the results of the fitting of both proposed models (NT-BET, solid lines, and NT-PFG, dashed ones) to their data for selected pore diameters (H = 2, 5, and 8 nm). We fitted the data applying the genetic algorithm constructed by Storn and Price [24,25] and previously applied by us with great success [26,27]. The results for the NT-PFG model are shown in Table 1 and it is seen that we obtained determination coefficient (DC) values in the range 0.940-0.997.…”
