Does removal of steel wires relieve post-sternotomy pain after cardiac surgery?

Abstract: We recommend removal of the steel wires in patients with persistent chest pain after median sternotomy, when sternal instability, mediastinitis, and cardiac causes such as ischemia are excluded.
