Background:After the health reform in 2003, a need emerged to monitor patient satisfaction in Turkey. Objective : To evaluate patient satisfaction with family practice in Turkey and compare with some other European countries. Methods : The study was performed on a countrywide representative sample from all the 81 provinces of Turkey. Data were collected during the years 2010 -2012 from patients visiting family practice centres. A three-year repeated cross-sectional study was conducted using the EUROPEP instrument. Twenty-six questions with a fi ve-point Likert scale were applied. Primary outcome measures of the study were the mean EUROPEP scores (min. 1, max. 5). Results : Mean ( Ϯ SD) EUROPEP scores for the years 2010 ( n ϭ 34 472), 2011 ( n ϭ 34 764), and 2012 ( n ϭ 32 667) were 4.09 Ϯ 0.77, 4.29 Ϯ 0.59, and 4.42 Ϯ 0.54 respectively (F ϭ 1565.37; P Ͻ 0.001). The mean satisfaction percentage was calculated as 88.3%. Areas of lowest satisfaction were ' Being able to speak to the GP on the telephone, ' ' Getting through to the practice on the phone, ' and ' Physical conditions of the family practice. ' Conclusion : Although in small increments, patient satisfaction with family practices in Turkey has increased during the last few years.

BackgroundThe current healthcare climate is characterized by a constant battle for the provision of quality care with limited resources and with patient satisfaction receiving increased attention, there is a need for reliable and valid assessment measures. This study describes the adaptation, testing and validation of the Risser Patient satisfaction Scale in an oncology care setting in Greece. The rationale for this study lies in the scarcity of such measures in the Greek language.MethodsThis is a test retest validation study in Greece. Data were collected from 298 hospitalized cancer patients. The validation methodology included the assessment of the item internal consistency, using the Cronbach alpha coefficient. The test-retest reliability was tested by the Kappa correlation coefficient.ResultsThe scale demonstrated very good psychometric properties. The internal consistency of the instrument was good, Cronbach’s alpha was found to be 0.78 (p<0.001) and Kappa coefficient for reproducibility was found to be K=0.89 (95% CI: 0.83-0.91 p<0.0001).ConclusionThe findings demonstrated strong agreement of the scale, suggesting that the Greek version offers substantial reliability. This study provides a valid and reliable tool to assess patient satisfaction in oncology settings. Means to monitor patient satisfaction, a key aspect of the policy agenda for quality care remain important for nurse leaders to develop better care in oncology settings.

MODELS SECURING NURSING COMPETENCY -A SYSTEMATIC REVIEWABSTRACT Background: The Swedish healthcare system is organized in a way that all nurses despite formal competence and experience have the same responsibilities. A newly graduated nurse has the same work-load and responsibility in patient care as the experienced nurse. Newly graduated nurses need supervision by clinical experts in the process of developing skills, but also to reduce risks that exists when their authority is above their skills and level of experience. Aim: To identify existing organizational models were the nurses' work has been formalized according to their level of competence and experience in order to improve patient safety and patient satisfaction. Method: A search with a systematic approach in CINAHL, The Cochrane Library and MedLine. A total of 397 studies were identified and 31 articles were screened in full text. Result: Finally three articles, which are insufficient with regards to issue recommendations, presented common factors as models that focus on experienced nurses´ competence and the organisation of patient care. Conclusion: The research regarding models of organization that secure nursing competence in patient care, how it is utilized and, it's effect on patient care is insufficient. There is a need for extensive research examining this relation at ward level.
