Does High Public Self-Disclosure in High-Status Persons Reduce Speakers' Persuasiveness?

Abstract: Two prior studies showed that, when a high-status person revealed intimate personal information, ability to persuade others was reduced. Three experiments, involving 283 total subjects and the original videotaped message, did not replicate earlier results.
