“…Considering the asymmetric coefficients of good governance on tourism development, it is undoubtedly confirmed that governmental effectiveness ensures economic and financial stability for fostering equitable development, eventually supporting tourism development in the long and short runs. Our findings align with existing literature, for instance, Sou and Vinnicombe (2021), Xu et al (2021). Existing literature has postulated that inefficient institutional quality, corruption, and political instability unmined tourism growth prospects in the long run, which eventually degraded equitable tourism-led economic growth (Del Monte and Papagni, 2001;de Vaal and EbbenInstitutions, 2011;Faheem et al, 2019;Andriamahery and Qamruzzaman, 2022;Xia et al, 2022;Zhuo and Qamruzzaman, 2022).…”

“…Our results have been corroborated by the argument ofXu et al (2021) who argued that increasing corruption in the African continent has undermined the policy towards reducing income inequality and improving social welfare and income distribution. This results support the view ofXu et al (2022) who posited that the failure of African governments to control corruption has limited the flow of foreign direct investment and retarded economic growth which by extension, could undermine the improvement of income distribution. Most interestingly, the coefficients of the interaction of governance quality and ICT enter with positive and significant impacts. It means that ICT could exert a significant influence on governance quality to minimize income inequality.…”

“…For example, Dossou et al (2021) use the PCSE to explore the linkage between tourism, governance quality and poverty reduction in 15 different Latin American countries between 2003 and 2015. Also, Xu et al (2022) based on a panel data model estimated with PCSE parameters to stablish the linkages between tourism development and corruption in 30 African countries over the period 1996–2020. However, the findings of this kind of studies should be considered to identify only generalized relationship patterns among variables that a posteriori should be analyzed individually in each country.…”
