Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) are caused by viruses, bacteria or other microorganisms, transmitted most often by sexual intercourse, without the use of condoms, and can transmit from mother to child and through syringes, needles or other sharp materials shared. Six infections are on the rise among young Brazilians, which are: HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis B and C, Syphilis, HPV, Gonorrhea and Genital Herpes. However, only HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis B and C and Syphilis will be analyzed, because they are diseases of compulsory notification and present their data in SINAN. To analyze the survey of epidemiological data in case of STIs in adolescents. Study of secondary databases, quantitative, descriptive with a focus on the young population, adolescents between 10 and 19 years old. The results show that the most affected sex is male in all STIs analyzed. Hepatitis B 2

According to that author, this occurs because during the puberty (a period corresponding to both infancy and adulthood, usually stretching from 12 to 18 years of age [30]) women develop earlier than men [16]. Consequently, the adaptation to tiring physical activities is lower, there is increase in the frailty of articulations, higher sensitiveness in several painful conditions, and the pain perception can be influenced by hormonal factors resulting from the puberty 31 .…”

Low back pain and risk factors during the third infancy

Introduction: Low back pain is characterized as a pain in the area between the 12th rib and the low gluteal fold. This pain can affect different ages. During the growth peak, the postural control system is rearranged; therefore, the maintenance and fixation of these structures is crucial for the performance of daily activities. Thus, the prevalence of low back pain and their risk factors must be investigated, so that effective preventive measures against low back pain may be taken. Objective: To investigate the prevalence of low back pain and the risks associated to it during the third infancy, that is, children aged between 6 and 12 years old. Method: A transversal and observational study with 150 children of both genders, students from private institutions of Lavras, Minas Gerais, in 2016. Questionnaires were applied in order to understand the characteristics of the sample (age, gender, school year, ethnic group, parents’ educational level, means of transportation to go to school and situations that caused or aggravated low back pain) and their low back pain (in the last 12 months). Results: The rate of occurrence of low back pain in the senior year of school was 20%. According to the chi-squared, “school year” and “ethnic group” (pardos) were the variables associated to low back pain. Sitting, mainly in front of the computer, was reported to be the main cause of the symptoms. Conclusion: Low back pain presented a prevalence of 20% with no significant difference between genders, but there was an association of low back pain and variables related to the school year and the ethnic group.

Objective: To investigate the knowledge of adolescents related to sexually transmitted infections (STIs), AIDS, and pregnancy, and understand the role of school in sex education. Method: A qualitative descriptive study, developed through a semi-structured interview and a form for participant characterization, with 22 high school students from a public school aged 16 to 19 years. Data were submitted to content analysis. Results: After analysis, four thematic categories were developed: sexuality and sex education; understanding of risk behaviors; knowledge of STI/AIDS; and knowledge of and practices for prevention. Final considerations: This study showed the need for preventive educational actions for adolescents, because the lack of information contributes to their vulnerability. The adolescents recognize the importance of sex education; therefore it is important to implement strategies to promote and protect health in the school environment to encourage and strengthen self-care in health. Método: estudo qualitativo, descritivo, desenvolvido por meio de entrevista semiestruturada e formulário para caracterização dos participantes, com 22 adolescentes entre 16 e 19 anos de idade, estudantes do Ensino Médio em uma escola pública. Os dados foram submetidos à análise de conteúdo. Resultados: da análise emergiram quatro categorias temáticas: Sexualidade e educação sexual; Compreensão de comportamentos de risco; Conhecimento de IST/AIDS; Conhecimento e práticas de prevenção. Considerações fi nais: revelou-se a necessidade de ações educativas de prevenção para os adolescentes, pois a falta de informações contribui para a sua vulnerabilidade. Os adolescentes reconhecem a importância da educação sexual; consequentemente, é importante a implementação de estratégias de promoção e de proteção à saúde no ambiente escolar para contribuir e fortalecer o autocuidado na saúde.
