Documenting the Armenian Genocide in Norway: the role of a National Archive in the social life of a collection

Abstract: This paper applies the methodological premise of the 'social life of things' to give insight into the context and movements of a collection of records found at the Norwegian National Archive, that contribute to the documentation of the Armenian Genocide. A study of the life of this collection tells the story of Norwegian missionaries in the Ottoman Empire in 1915, their witnessing of the Genocide and the subsequent activations of the records.
