Dobutamine Stress Echocardiography in Anomalous Left Coronary Artery

Abstract: The evaluation of left ventricular function with dobutamine stress echocardiography is described for the first time in a patient with anomalous left coronary artery from the pulmonary trunk during the preoperative and postoperative periods. This method demonstrated signs of myocardial ischemia that were not seen on the resting echocardiogram during the preoperative period and ventricular function recovery after surgical intervention.

“…Bunton 40 and, more recently, Jin 46 , also documented these findings. In spite of these optimistic data, new techniques such as scintigraphy under dipyridamole stress 47 and dobutamine stress echocardiography 48 have been consi-dered useful in the detection of myocardial perfusion and contraction abnormalities. However, more detailed studies are needed to confirm these findings.…”
