Background. Stigma is one of the most important barriers to help-seeking and to personal recovery for people suffering from mental disorders. Stigmatizing attitudes are present among mental health professionals with negative effects on the quality of health care. Methods. Network and moderator analysis were used to identify what path determines stigma, considering demographic and professional variables, personality traits, and burnout dimensions in a sample of mental health professionals (n = 318) from six Community Mental Health Services. The survey included the Attribution Questionnaire-9, the Maslach Burnout Inventory, and the Ten-Item Personality Inventory. Results. The personality trait of openness to new experiences resulted to determine lower levels of stigma. Burnout (personal accomplishment) interacted with emotional stability in predicting stigma, and specifically, for subjects with lower emotional stability lower levels of personal accomplishment were associated with higher levels of stigma. Conclusions. Some personality traits may be accompanied by better empathic and communication skills, and may have a protective role against stigma. Moreover, burnout can increase stigma, in particular in subjects with specific personality traits. Assessing personality and burnout levels could help in identifying mental health professionals at higher risk of developing stigma. Future studies should determine whether targeted interventions in mental health professionals at risk of developing stigma may be effective in stigma prevention.

The purpose of this research is to achieve a deeper understanding of emotional support in principal-teacher relations. The study aims to shed light on the role of principals' supportive communication strategies in providing emotional support to teachers, and on the proximal affective outcome of such support. The study used quantitative data obtained from 190 schoolteachers to explore the effect of principals' emotional support on teachers' emotional reframing through principals' supportive communication strategies (empathic listening and empowering and normalizing messages). The analysis indicated an indirect effect of principals' emotional support on teachers' emotional reframing through principals' supportive communication strategies. The results and their implications are discussed.

The purpose of this study was to determine whether communication skills of adults are different in terms of gender and age and to reveal that personality traits predict communication skills. For this purpose data were collected from 187 adults whose ages were ranging between 22 and 46 by Communication Skills Scale-Adult Form and Five Factor Inventory. The data were analyzed by using SPSS 20 via t test, one way ANOVA and stepwise regression. In the result of analysis, it was determined that the total score of female"s communication skills get higher scores than males in the subscale of active listening and non-verbal communication and complying with the communication principles. There were differences only caring communication dimension by age. According to this, it was found that pay attention to communication increases as age increases. It was determined that about 17.8% of total score in communication skills were explained by extraversion and conscientiousness personality traits. Kişilerarası iletişimin tanımı, Verdener (1999) tarafından iletişimi kuran kişiler, verdikleri mesajlar, iletişimin geçtiği ortam, anlayamamaya ya da yanlış anlamalara yol açabilecek bireyden ya da çevreden kaynaklanan bazı etmenler ve geri bildirimi içeren süreçler olarak ele alınmaktadır. Wood (2010) kişilerarası iletişimin bireyin yaşamındaki önemini Maslow"un gereksinimler hiyerarşisini dikkate alarak açıklamış ve piramitteki her gereksinimin kişilerarası iletişim ile giderilebileceğini belirtmiştir. En temel gereksinimlerden en üst düzeydeki psikolojik gereksinimlerin karşılanmasına dek kişilerarası iletişimlerin önemli olduğunu gösteren araştırma sonuçları da bulunmaktadır. Bazı psikolojik sorunların oluşmasında en önemli etmenlerden birisinin kişilerarası ilişkiler olduğu pek çok psikiyatrist tarafından vurgulanmaktadır. Bireylerin ağırlıklı olarak tek düzeyde iletişim kurmaları, kurdukları iletişimle ilgili olarak iletişim kurdukları bireylerle konuşmamaları birbirlerini anlamamalarına ve birbirlerini anlamada tutarsızlıklara neden olmaktadır (Haley, 1988;Özer, 1995). Sağlıklı ilişkilerin kurulamaması bireylerde anlaşılmamışlık, yalnızlık hatta bazı durumlarda daha da derin duygusal sorunlara yol açabilmektedir. Yapılan araştırmalar zayıf ya da etkili olmayan iletişim becerilerine sahip olmanın, şiddet ve saldırganlık eğilimi (Paterson, Capaldi ve Bank, 1991; Wehby, Symons ve Shates, 1995), madde kullanımı (McWhirter, McWhirter ve Gat, 1996) gibi sorunlara zemin hazırladığını göstermektedir.
