Abstract: The extraction of nickel, cobalt, and other metals from laterite ores via bioleaching with sulfur-oxidizing and ferric iron-reducing, autotrophic, acidophilic bacteria (e.g. Acidithiobacillus species) has been demonstrated under anaerobic as well as aerobic conditions in experiments in different laboratories.
