Do different vaccination regimes affect the growth performance, immune status, carcase characteristics and meat quality of broilers?

Abstract: 1. A vaccination regime is a schedule for the administration of vaccines which may vary according to country or even by farm. This study aimed to measure the production and health performance of broilers treated with different vaccination regimes. 2. A total of 108 Cobb 500 broiler birds were randomly divided into three treatment groups, with six replicates consisting of six birds per replicate. Each treatment group was administered with different vaccination regimes against Newcastle Disease (ND), Infectious … Show more

“…There is a strong relationship between body weight and carcass weight, as well as between carcass weight and dressing percentage [ 30 ]. Phytobiotics could be practiced to enhance the carcass traits while adding value to poultry products due to their antimicrobial and antioxidant characteristics [ 23 ].…”

“…In the current study, T6 broilers supplemented with the highest Y. schidigera demonstrated a superior meat quality during the starter and finisher phases by influencing the muscle pH, cooking loss, and drip loss of both breast and drumstick muscle. Referring to one study, prolonged time secretion of corticosterone under chronic heat stress may have detrimental effects on the breakdown of muscle due to gluconeogenesis [ 30 ]. The accelerated lactic acid production induces rapid pH decline while the body temperature is high, which results in a PSE-like conditions in meat.…”

“…Although the reduction of feed intake, digestion, and absorption are the most important factors in IS-induced growth suppression of livestock, the redistribution of nutrients also plays a role [ 90 ]. After the regulation of multiple hormones (growth hormone (GH), thyroid hormone, IGF-1, and GC) and cytokines, the body will redirect nutrients originally used for muscle synthesis and growth to the immune system to maintain a highly activated immune system to prevent diseases, resulting in an increase in FCR [ 90 , 91 , 92 , 93 , 94 , 95 ].…”

(Kielland et al, 2015;Chung et al,, 2020).…”
