Do device that simulate methane capture equipment, as a mask located in the head of dairy cows affect their welfare?

Abstract: The objective of this study was to determine if device that simulate methane capture equipment (DSMC) located in the frontal part of the head of dairy cows affect animal welfare using productive, behavioral, biochemical and physiological indicators. Twenty Holstein dairy cows were assigned to one of the two following treatments: cows with DSMC (CDSMC, n=10) and cows without methane capture devices (CC, n=10).
