This study proposed an information-response model, which hypothesized that information acquisition determines individuals’ preventive behaviors during the pandemic through cognitive, affective, and instrumental processes. Through a two-wave survey ( N = 1,501) conducted in Hong Kong, results revealed that information acquisition was associated with perceived risk, perceived efficacy, affective response, and preventive behaviors. Moreover, source trust was positively related to information utility, which mediated the effect of information acquisition on perceived efficacy and affective response. Our research model contributes to theories of information behavior by highlighting the role of instrumental factors necessary for individuals to translate information into preventive actions.

Sejarah masyarakat dunia telah membentuk sebuah kepimpinan dalam organisasi global; tidak terkecuali masyarakat Adat Perpatih yang menjadikan ukiran tiga dimensi buah buton yang terbina berlandaskan konteks alam. Oleh itu, kajian ini bertujuan menganalisis hubung kait konteks alam dengan masyarakat Adat Perpatih yang diinterpretasikan dalam ukiran tiga dimensi buah buton. Bagi mencapai objektif tersebut, kajian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan mengguna pakai kaedah kerja lapangan dan temu bual. Kerja lapangan melibatkan penyelidikan terhadap rumah-rumah tradisional yang mempunyai ukiran buah buton sekitar Luak Tanah Mengandung, Negeri Sembilan. Manakala, temu bual pula mengetengahkan responden-responden daripada kategori pengamal Adat Perpatih, penyelidik Adat Perpatih dan masyarakat tempatan. Kajian ini mendapati bahawa buah buton hanya ditemui pada rumah-rumah trradisional yang dimiliki atau dihuni pemimpin adat ataupun golongan bangsawan. Dapat disimpulkan, pengaplikasian subjek tersebut sebagai sebuah peringatan buat pemiliknya yang mempunyai status dalam Adat Perpatih dengan menjadikan konteks alam sebagai rujukan dan panduan buat masyarakatnya. Ini menunjukkan bahawa karakter atau sifat alam itu dijadikan metafora dalam membentuk sebuah permikiran kepimpinan yang holistik dan berketerampilan. Ini merupakan sebuah impak kepada keperibadian seseorang yang bukan sekadar menjadikan buah buton sebagai perhiasan; malah, mampu menembus hati dan jiwa nurani si pemiliknya dengan bersandarkan pada akal fikiran yang logik. Maka, artikel ini mencadangkan agar penyelidikan yang khusus terhadap permaknaan setiap ciri yang diukir pada ukiran buah buton dilakukan bagi melihat kaitannya dengan kepimpinan dalam sesebuah organisasi.
