DLX6-AS1: a putative lncRNA candidate in multiple human cancers

Abstract: Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have important roles in regulating the expression of genes and act as biomarkers in the initial development of different cancers. Increasing research studies have verified that dysregulation of lncRNAs occurs in various pathological processes including tumorigenesis and cancer progression. Among the different lncRNAs, DLX6-AS1 has been reported to act as an oncogene in the development and prognoses of different cancers, by affecting many different signalling pathways. “…Apoptosis, invasion, and metastasis have all been linked to the activity of miRNAs ( Noda 2012 ) ( Si et al, 2019 ). However, upregulation of miR-21 and lncRNA (long non-coding RNA) has been linked to various cancers, such as malignant B-cell lymphoma and breast cancer ( Feng and Tsao, 2016 ; Chi et al, 2019 ; Zhao et al, 2021 ; Sheykhhasan et al, 2021 ). Let-7 miRNA, on the other hand, is known as the “keeper of differentiation” and has been discovered as possible cancer and immune response therapeutic agent ( Gilles and Slack, 2018 ; Chirshev et al, 2019 ).…”

“…The lncRNAs as ceRNAs lncRNAs are non-coding RNAs with a length typically exceeding 200 nucleotides (Refs [22][23][24][25]. Around 30 000 to 60 000 lncRNAs have been discovered in humans (Ref.…”

“…The Encyclopedia of DNA Elements project revealed that approximately 80% of the human genome is transcribed into 14,880 long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) from 9,277 loci ( 15 ). LncRNAs are defined as non-protein coding transcripts longer than 200 nucleotides, although recent literature suggesting some lncRNAs can encode small peptides or small proteins ( 16 ). Currently, lncRNA research has moved to the forefront of human cancer research, as recent findings have revealed a crucial role for lncRNAs in gene modulation.…”
