Problems related to financial illiteracy cause negative externalities. Financial illiteracy can lead to financial disorganization and indebtedness. It is in this context that the research emerged, with the objective of investigating whether it is possible for the military police in Santa Catarina to have financial education. Empirical-analytical research, descriptive nature and quantitative approach were used. The indebtedness and defaults of Brazilian families were examined and the number of military police officers in Santa Catarina was analyzed with a payroll slip. In addition, some ways of introducing financial guidance programs have been suggested to the Corporation and 90 financial planning simulations have been carried out. The main results indicated that the level of indebtedness and defaults of Brazilian families is significant and the number of military police officers from Santa Catarina with payroll is significant. It is noteworthy that the military police in Santa Catarina may have financial education and that with financial planning it is possible to accumulate capital. This research brings, as a contribution, the incentive to financial education to the military police of Santa Catarina, which can refer to the possible benefits related to the private life of the police and to the quality of the services provided to society and, consequently, to the results of this professional for the Corporation.
