To reveal how mineral changes affect a coal pore structure in the presence of water, an autoclave was used to carry out the supercritical CO2 (ScCO2)-H2O-coal interaction process. To reveal the changes in pore complexity, mercury intrusion capillary pressure (MICP), low-pressure nitrogen adsorption, CO2 adsorption, and field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) experiments were combined with fractal theory. The experimental data of MICP show that the MICP data are meaningful only for the pore fractal dimension with pore sizes >150 nm. Therefore, the pores were classified into the classes >150, 2–150, and <2 nm. The results show that the pore volume and specific surface area of the coal increased significantly after the reaction. ScCO2-H2O can cause the formation of many new pores and fractures in the coal. The presence of H2O may increase the potential for the injection of CO2 into the coal seam. The complete dissolution of calcite surfaces caused a significant increase in the pore volume and specific surface area of the pores >150 nm. The morphologies of these pores are controlled by the morphologies of the complete dissolution carbonate particles. The pore morphologies were relatively uniform, and the fractal dimensions decreased. However, the incomplete dissolution of calcite leads to irregular variations in the morphologies for the pores in the 2–150 nm pore size range. The pore morphologies that are produced by incompletely dissolved calcite particles are more complex, which increases the fractal dimensions after the reaction. The fractal dimensions of the pores <2 nm decreased after the reaction, indicating that the newly generated micropores were more uniform and had regular pore morphologies.

Many low-production and low-efficiency wells in the Zhengzhuang, Fanzhuang, Lu’an, and Yangquan blocks of the Qinshui Basin seriously hinder the development of coalbed methane in China. Through in-depth research on the geological conditions and development technology of coalbed methane, it was found that the main reasons for the existence of a large number of low-production and low-efficiency wells are the fragmentation of coal structure, poor adaptability of vertical well types, sizable well spacing, and mismatched stimulation measures. On this basis, it is proposed to adopt an L-shaped horizontal well and staged Fracking technology in the block with a complete coal structure but low permeability. For stress–concentration areas, the first fracturing of a vertical well has a single crack and a small coverage area; After a period of drainage and production, the use of repeated fracturing technology can increase the complexity of fractures and increase gas production; For the fractured area of coal structure, the use of roof fracturing technology effectively solves the problem of coal fragmentation. In natural fracture development areas, new fractures are formed using fracture turning technology to achieve the effect of increasing production. The above technologies have achieved good results in the Qinshui Basin engineering experiment. Therefore, in-depth research on the geological conditions of coalbed methane and matching related development technologies are the main ways to solve low-efficiency and low-production wells in coalbed methane development blocks.

Enhanced salinity tolerance and improved yield properties in Bangladeshi rice Binnatoa through Agrobacterium-mediated transformation of PgNHX1 from Pennisetum glaucum

Rice yield is severely affected by high-salt concentration in the vicinity of the plant. In an effort to engineer rice for improved salt tolerance Agrobacteriummediated transformation of rice cv. Binnatoa was accomplished with the Pennisetum glaucum vacuolar Na ? /H ? antiporter gene (PgNHX1) under the constitutive CaMV35S promoter. For the molecular analysis of putative transgenic plants, PCR and RT-PCR were performed. Transgenic rice plants expressing PgNHX1 showed better physiological status and completed their life cycle by setting flowers and seeds in salt stress, while wild-type plants exhibited rapid chlorosis and growth inhibition. Moreover, transgenic rice plants produced higher grain yields than wild-type plants under salt stress. Assessment of the salinity tolerance of the transgenic plants at seedling and reproductive stages demonstrated the potential of PgNHX1 for imparting enhanced salt tolerance capabilities and improved yield.
