Diversity of Arbuscular Mycorrhizae Fungi from Orchard Ecosystem

Abstract: Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF), a symbiotic microorganism survives in both soil and roots. 80% of the plant roots acts as the host for the AMF and they are known as the component of soil and functional links between soil and plant. Orchard ecosystem was selected for the study since they are having a diversified plant flora. Roots and rhizosphere soil samples were collected randomly from Rosa indica, Citrus lemon, Emblica efficinalisis, Punica granutum, Mangifera indica orchard located at Gandhigram Rural I… Show more

“…Studies in fruit tree orchards of different species, plant varieties and of different ages did not show differences in mycorrhizal colonization between species (ABDELHALIM et al, 2014;ANGALESWARI & MAHALINGAM, 2014;JIANG et al, 2020;MEDDAD-HAMZA et al, 2017;MOHANDAS et al, 2012), varieties (GOVINDAN et al, 2020 or the age of the orchard (MEDDAD-HAMZA et al, 2017;MOHANDAS et al, 2012).…”

“…Soil biota play a critical role in nutrient cycling and maintenance of ecosystem functioning. Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) which are associated with over 80% of terrestrial plants provide several ecosystem services including enhanced nutrient uptake, protection against diseases and pathogens, increased tolerance to other environmental stresses, mediate nutrient cycling, and improves soil physical properties (Syibli et al, 2013;Chandrasekeran and Mahalingam, 2014;Campos et al, 2018;Chu et al, 2020). However, forest conversion influence AMF, with a decline or increase in composition and abundance (van der Heyde et al, 2017;Belay et al, 2020).…”
