Text-based vignettes are widely used within qualitative social work research yet there is little guidance on how to construct and integrate them into the research process. This article discusses the uses, benefits and limitations of written vignettes as part of semi-structured interviews and focus groups with social workers and related professionals. It provides clear guidelines on how to design a vignette. This includes the choice of scenario, characteristics of the protagonist, type of vignette, research setting, length, vignettes in semi-structured interviews and pre-testing. Text-based vignettes have been successfully used in social work research on six continents in a variety of research contexts including single context, comparative, cross-sectional, longitudinal and replication studies. Written vignettes are a useful tool to elicit (professional) values, attitudes and decision-making processes in a time efficient manner that produces focused, in-depth knowledge without the need to use real practice examples that could potentially include sensitive data or breach confidentiality. Vignettes have been used to explore a wide range of topics including but not limited to adult safeguarding, care planning, child protection and multi-agency working together. There is some debate whether vignette responses mirror real-life actions. The value of vignette data goes beyond documenting real-world decision-making. It can uncover tacit social work knowledge and unquestioned beliefs to show how they interplay in decision-making.

Irkçılık ve ayrımcılık karşıtı uygulama, sosyal hizmetin temel konularından ve etik ilkelerinden biridir. Ayrımcı ve ırkçı muamele, aynı zamanda insan hakları ihlalidir. İnsanlar, ayrımcılık ve ırkçılığa maruz kalmaları nedeniyle sosyal hizmet yararlanıcısı olabildikleri gibi, sosyal hizmetlerden yararlanma süreçlerinde de ayrımcılığa ve ırkçılığa maruz kalabilmektedirler. Bu nedenle ayrımcılık ve ırkçılık, sosyal hizmet eğitiminde ve mesleki uygulamalarda sıklıkla ele alınan ve çalışılan konular olagelmiştir. Irkçılık ve ayrımcılık karşıtı, radikal, eleştirel, feminist sosyal hizmet ile bu yaklaşımlardan beslenen baskı karşıtı sosyal hizmet teorisi ve uygulaması üzerine geniş bir sosyal hizmet literatürü bulunmaktadır. Bu makalede, ayrımcılık ve ırkçılık, insan hakları temelinde ele alınarak, Türkiye'deki yasal durum ve uygulamalar aktarılmış, sosyal hizmet eğitimi ve uygulamalarında yapılabilecekler üzerine önerilerde bulunulmuştur.

Purpose: This study aimed to assess ways by which Gender Equality affects primary education in Mukono District Research methodology: This study is a case study that concentrates on a single institute to provide information that can be used in similar businesses to establish the effect of gender equality on primary school. A case study as the research design was preferred because it helps to measure the relationship among variables. A random sampling technique was applied in the study to produce more reliable results. Results: Results indicate that majority of pupils said that three pupils shared one text book. Also, schools only hire highly skilled teachers that a helping in the accessibility of gender equal skilled teachers that a helping in the primary education. Limitations: The study covered only one town council in one district local government and so the results may not be generalized across the country or region. Contribution: The results of this study can be useful to educationists and policy planners. Keywords: Gender, Gender equality, Primary schools, UPE
