Diversity and distribution of Finnish aphyllophoroid and heterobasidioid fungi (Basidiomycota): An update

Abstract: Biogeographical and ecological knowledge of aphyllophoroid fungi has increased substantially after the publication of the Finnish aphyllophoroid checklist. In this paper, we describe the occurrence and distributions of both aphyllophoroid and heterobasidioid fungi in Finland. We introduce 13 species new to Finland: Hyphoderma lapponicum (Litsch.) Ryvarden, Mycostilla vermiformis (Berk. & Broome) Spirin & Malysheva, Proterochaete adusta (Burt) Spirin & V. Malysheva, Pseudotomentella alobata Svantess… Show more

“…In Europe, L. decidua and L. kaempferi, together with a hybrid between them (L. × eurolepis), are important forest trees. According to modern data from P. Kunttu et al (2021), larch canker is a fungal disease that causes ulcers that disfigure branches and trunks. It is considered the most damaging pathology of larch in Europe, especially at low altitudes and poorly drained areas (Bidolakh et al, 2021).…”

“…One of the most numerous and insufficiently examined paraphyletic groups of fungi is aphyllophoroid macromycetes, from the standpoint of modern systematic structures, they are positioned as a set of life forms that unites representatives of the Basidiomycota division of multiple lines of phylogenetic order ( Blinkova & Ivanenko, 2016;Kunttu et al, 2021). This group is a component of the heterotrophic complex of forest ecological systems.…”

“…The use of these links as an indicator of anthropogenic disturbance of forest ecosystems is a relevant research area since the system "woody plant species -aphyllophoroid macromycetes" combines the processes of weakening and damage to trees, the accumulation of wood fall, and the rate of its decomposition by mycetes into a holistic process that clearly reflects the corresponding characteristics of the forest ecosystem.
