Divergent seasonal responses of above- and below-ground to environmental factors in alpine grassland

Abstract: IntroductionUnder current global warming, the relationship between season changes of plants and environmental factors is focused on high-elevation and latitude regions. Due to the desynchronized growth of above- and below-ground and the buffering of soil, the driving factors in leaf and root show seasonal dynamics.MethodsWe measured above- and below-ground intensity in the alpine steppe over the non-growing season (October-April) and growing season (May-September). Air temperature, precipitation, soil moisture… Show more

“…The objective of this paper is to: (1) analyse the spatiotemporal variations in growing season (i.e., May-September; Dayalu et al, 2018;Qin et al, 2023;Wang et al, 2021aWang et al, , 2021b CDHEs over China during 1901China during -2017 (2) examine the contribution of drought and high temperature to compound dry-hot extremes in varying regions and periods and (3) investigate the impact of large-scale climate patterns (ENSO, AMO, PDO, NAO and NP) on growing-season CDHEs over a century-long period in China. The rest of this paper is structured in the following manner.…”
