Distribution System Reconfiguration Considering Customer and DG Reliability Cost

Abstract: -This paper presents a novel objective function for distribution system reconfiguration for reliability enhancement. When islanding operations of distributed generators is prohibited, faults in the feeder interrupt the operation of distributed generators. For this reason, we include the customer interruption cost as well as the distributed generator interruption cost in the objective function in the network reconfiguration algorithm. The network reconfiguration in which genetic algorithms are used is implement… Show more

“…As a result, a model of PV which is useful to estimate the short-term output power of PVs based on could coverage variations has been considered as one of the most important requirement of power utilities. 1 In the operation of PVs, available information about output power hour-by-hour in every season is very substantial. The drawbacks of evaluation reliability of PVs based on Oktas-scale in modern power system are summed up in the following steps:…”

“…In addition, recent developments in renewable resources as distributed generations (DGs) in distribution systems have changed the structure of electrical networks and ownership of electricity industry [1,2]. Also, the reliability of distribution system is an important issue to be considered in system planning and operation due to the following two main reasons: firstly, customers have become more sensitive to quality of provided service; secondly, if some standards of reliability are not accomplished, regulators can penalize the utility [3].…”

“…Bertling et al [11] proved that the reliability centred maintenance can considerably affect the reliability of the system. In [12], [13] discussed the effect of reconfiguration of the distribution system on the reliability of the system. In [14], [15] evaluated the improvement in the system relaibiliy considering distribution automation.…”

“…As the supply of renewable energy is expanding globally, the amount of distributed power sources (e.g., solar photovoltaic (PV) and wind power) connected to the power grid is also rapidly increasing [1]. In addition, a number of studies related to distributed power connections have been conducted [2][3][4][5][6][7]. The inclusion of distributed power sources such as PV and wind power [8][9][10] could degrade power quality due to fluctuations of their output power.…”
