Distribution patterns of oil and gas accumulations in West Siberia

Abstract: The current geological and geophysical exploration maturity and the structure of resource base have been presented for the West Siberian Basin. The patterns of oil and gas content distribution, both in areal extent and vertical, have been considered throughout the entire cover and its constituent oil-gas plays. Structural constructions for four major stratigraphic levels have been analyzed: the bottom of the Mesozoic–Cenozoic cover, the Jurassic and Lower Aptian top, and the bottom of Turonian deposits. The di… Show more

“…The object of research is the change in the structure of a sample of an oil source rock, in this case, the black mudstone of the Bazhenov suite (Russia, Western Siberia) as a result of radical reactions in dispersed organic matter (kerogen) [4][5][6][7][8][9]. As a consequence of microwave treatment, oil and gas generation processes occur, with a natural increase in the volume of hydrocarbons during the transition from a solid state (kerogen) to a liquid (oil) and gaseous (gas).…”

“…Oil and gas accumulations have been revealed in eight oil and gas plays (see details in [30,40,[62][63][64][65]). The deepest buried play is present at the Paleozoic paleobasin at the top of the heterogeneous basement.…”
