“…P . maeoticus has been chosen due to its euryhalinity, invasion record of inland waterbodies and reservoirs of Ukraine and Turkey (Alexandrov et al., ; Kocataş, Katagan, Özbek, & Sezgin, ; Özbek, ), wide spread distribution and high abundance in its native region (Mirzajani, ; Mordukhai‐Boltovskoi, ), and consecutive breeding and short generation time (1–2 months; Nazarhaghighi, Shabanipour, Zarghami, & Etemadi‐Deylami, ). During the experiments, we followed mortality of adults, hatching success, and growth and survival of offspring in different salinities.…”

“…Özbek et al (2004) listed the Malacostraca species of the Iznik and Uluabat lakes and recorded O.cavimana (here identified as C.garbinii Ruffo, Tarocco and Latella, 2014) from those lakes. Later, Özbek (2011) summarized the distribution of Ponto-Caspian amphipod species in Turkey and mentioned the presence of O.cavimana ( C.garbinii , present study) in Sapanca, Iznik, and Uluabat lakes in the Sakarya and Bursa provinces. A southern record of similar looking specimens was reported from Eğirdir Lake, which is located in the Lake District Region of Turkey (Özbek and Ustaoğlu 2005).…”

Remarks: D. villosus is a fourth representative of the genus in the Turkish fauna, along with D. haemobaphes (Eichwald, 1984), D. istanbulensis Özbek andÖzkan, 2011, andD. gruberi Mateus andMateus, 1990.…”
