This article proposes a method for dynamic distribution network reconfiguration (DDNR) with distributed generation for loss reduction. Advantages and conceptual principles of a deterministic optimization method are exposed, which allows the minimization of technical power losses in distribution systems based on a linear approximation of the loads. In this work is proposed the application of this approach for the modelling of distributed generation sources, obtaining a mathematical formulation that exploits mixed-integer nonlinear programming in solving the optimal reconfiguration problem. The DDNR method is implemented in an automatic tool integrating OpenDSS and GAMS software. IEEE69-Bus test system is considered to demonstrate the effectiveness of the technique. Dynamic results are obtained by implementing the optimal reconfiguration strategy, making the dynamic adjustments of the mathematical modelling in the face of variations in distributed generation and demand profiles. The results reveal schemes that range from one to twenty-four daily control actions.

Optimal Reliability of a Smart Grid

This work presents the optimal reliability of a smart grid using Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) and the Monte Carlo analysis. In the electrical grid, reliability defines the permanent supply of energy and the satisfaction of customers. In this paper, the reliability of a smart grid is examined in the baseline scenario consisted of no faults and the scenarios consisted of faults both in the presence or absence of Distributed Generation units (DGs) using co-simulations. The study determines the optimal allocation and size of the DGs during faulty scenarios which was carried out using PSO. This work proposes an OpenDSS-OMNet++ platform applied in the electrical grid and communication network to achieve the smart distribution grid. The aim consists to assess the capacity of the system according to various possibilities and the automation level of the network. The 13-node IEEE system is implemented using the method and the proposed framework. In case of fault, the voltage drop is 45%, the SAIFI is 40 and with optimal allocation of distributed generation, the voltage drop moves to 2.3%, the SAIFI is 0.55. The energy losses go from 5232686.67 kWh/year to 211076.68 kWh/year, i.e. a difference of nearly 5021609.99 kWh/year. The final results indicate that our algorithm is efficient and reliable and can help companies of energy for future reliability trials and the progression of distributed generation in smart distribution grid.

RESUMOO setor elétrico está passando por mudanças significativas em relação ao novo tipo de consumidor, os prosumers, onde as cargas estão se comportando como um fluxo de potência bidirecional. Esse modelo de negócio que está surgindo é interessante porque pode promover o uso de energia renovável (solar) como ferramenta de marketing. Os prosumers estão criando preocupações às empresas de distribuição de energia elétrica locais com o aumento da penetração da geração distribuída (GD), podendo causar problemas de qualidade de energia. Nesse sentido, este trabalho apresenta uma proposta de utilização da GD como serviço auxiliar para melhorar problemas de qualidade de energia, atuando positivamente nas mudanças no perfil de tensão devido à potência reversa na GD. Portanto, este trabalho apresenta simulações feitas utilizando o software OpenDSS para ilustrar os problemas de tensão e abordar uma possível solução para as distribuidoras locais, utilizando esta geração como serviço auxiliar e assim motivar este novo modelo de negócio.Palavras-chave: Geração Distribuída.
