Distributed semantic algorithm for power constrained publish/subscribe routing

Abstract: In this paper, context awareness is exploited by defining semantic relations among sensor nodes. Data is routed in a multi-hop network after the establishment of semantic based communication links between sensors. Minimizing the energy consumption is a critical issue in resource constrained sensor networks. Context awareness introduces a new level of intelligence that can be exploited in order to improve the efficiency of communication networks. The semantic routing proposed here is achieved in a completely di… Show more

“…On the other hand, the multiplication of nodes implies a multiplication of power consumers, and managing energy consumption at the scale of the node leads to energy saving at a more global scale. The use of semantic web technologies to reduce the cost of content transport was already discussed in the description of the associated processes presented by [47] and [45]. However, in these papers, the use of semantic web technologies is not modified to match the constraints of an IoT network.…”

“…In recent years, the effort of designing the Pub/Sub system has been made by researchers from the academy and industry [2][3][4]. For the researchers from academy, they focused on the enhancement of the system expression capacity (e.g., content-based routing algorithms and semantic [5,6]) and the compatibility with the new application environments (e.g. P2P network [7,8]).…”
