Distributed scheduling scheme for video streaming over multi-channel multi-radio multi-hop wireless networks

Abstract: Abstract-An important issue of supporting multi-user video streaming over wireless networks is how to optimize the systematic scheduling by intelligently utilizing the available network resources while, at the same time, to meet each video's Quality of Service (QoS) requirement. In this work, we study the problem of video streaming over multi-channel multi-radio multihop wireless networks, and develop fully distributed scheduling schemes with the goals of minimizing the video distortion and achieving certain f… Show more

“…To formulate the routing problem in WMN as a search-based problem, three tasks need to be carried out: first is the representation of problem which is agreeable to symbolic manipulation, second is a fitness function specifying integrity of available options, and third is the set of manipulation operators. The authors in [15] have proposed distributed scheduling scheme for video streaming over multi-channel, multi-radio, multi-hop wireless networks and formulated the scheduling as a convex optimization problem. The schemes used in [15] mainly focus on applications having video streaming, while our work focus on link quality regardless of any application constraints.…”

“…The sharing wireless channel and its dynamic nature have been witnessed to make the traditional strict layered design difficult in providing efficient QoS support [47,48]. The problem is more severe in our joint scheme.…”

“…Then, the paths with lower delays are assigned to data packets carrying higher relevant data. Still concerning the media contents, the work in [13] proposes a transmission scheduling scheme for multi-radio and multi-hop wireless networks, where the video contents are considered when selecting the multiple available transmission channels.…”
