Distributed link selection in multirelay multiuser networks

Abstract: Recently, an attractive link-selection scheme has been proposed for nonregenerative relaying networks, by considering one source, one relay and one destination. In that scheme, based on a distributed mechanism, either the direct link or the relaying link is preselected at the transmitter side, before each communication process. This saves not only feedback overhead, when compared with centralised mechanisms, but also time slots, when compared with fixed relaying along with selection combining at the receiver s… Show more

“…where the step (a) is obtained by applying the Total Probability Theorem [21], and (b) is obtained by using the well known approximation of Θ l by its upper-bound Φ l = min {A, B l }, which has proved to render a tight approximation [22]. Also, as A and B l are independent random variables, then the CDF of Φ l can be expressed as…”

“…7, that is: 1) A > τ − C l and B < τ − C l , 2) A < τ − C l and B > τ − C l , and 3) A < τ − C l and B < τ − C l . For the first region, we have that B l is always lower than A, thus the destination selection is dominated by B l , and the expression in (22) for this region can be rewritten as…”
