Distributed Economic Dispatch for Islanded DC Microgrids Based on Finite-Time Consensus Protocol

Abstract: This paper presents a fully distributed finite-time control strategy to optimize the load power dispatch of islanded DC microgrids (MGs) in a finite-time manner. In which, based on the finite-time consensus protocol, a power optimizer is developed to realize MG's optimal operation by matching the incremental costs (ICs) of all the distributed generators (DGs) within a finite settling time. Moreover, the finite-time voltage regulator restores the average voltage across the MG to preserve the power balance among… Show more

“…8(c) shows the power mismatch is zero, which means the system power supply-demand balance is satisfied. This is also consistent with the analysis in (21). The optimal power output is P * =[21.67kW, 33.67kW, 22.57kW, 2.22kW, -45.93kW, - 34.19kW] with  * =4.943, and the social welfare is 194.01$/h.…”

“…Therefore, the power supplydemand is balanced before the iteration begins. Equation (21) shows that the sum of power variations is zero, which means that the proposed method maintains system power balance during iterations. And the optimal solution for the economic dispatch can be obtained if all i(t) converges to  * as t→.…”

“…Thus, they not only have the defect of disclosing bus privacy but require a high-performance computer and a reliable control-center-oriented communication network. The recently proposed distributed economic dispatch (DED) methods [6], [7], [8], [9] not only have the potential ability to preserve the bus privacy due to their distributed calculation but can lower the requirements for the computer performance and communication by distributing the computational burden among distributed computers and exchanging information between neighbors. These features are required not only by the sufficiency of electricity market competition but by the dispersity of renewable power sources.…”

“…To make the algorithm perform well even when the cost function is a general convex function, a method based on secant approximation is proposed to achieve efficient convergence (Zhong et al, 2021). (Chen et al, 2017;Zaery et al, 2020) use finite-time consensus for solving the EDP so that the algorithm converges in a determined finite time. In addition, issues such as network loss compensation (Sun et al, 2021) and information security encryption (Yan et al, 2021) have been considered.…”
