Distributed Combined Acoustic Echo Cancellation and Noise Reduction in Wireless Acoustic Sensor and Actuator Networks

Abstract: The paper presents distributed algorithms for combined acoustic echo cancellation (AEC) and noise reduction (NR) in a wireless acoustic sensor and actuator network (WASAN) where each node may have multiple microphones and multiple loudspeakers, and where the desired signal is a speech signal. A centralized integrated AEC and NR algorithm, i.e., multichannel Wiener filter (MWF), is used as starting point where echo signals are viewed as background noise signals and loudspeaker signals are used as additional inp… Show more

“…More and more urban planning or planning of tourist attractions include the design of large musical water features. In cities, musical water landscapes can play a role in beautifying the surrounding environment, purifying the air, and enriching the lives of citizens [1]. In scenic spots, musical water landscapes can realize the synchronization of music, water, and light to create a magnificent scene, thus attracting tourists and helping the development of tourism.…”

“…are neigborhood averages of the channel response estimate and the dual variable of channel i respectively, computed at node i. The values of all k hm+1 i k 2 , i 2 M are transmitted and relayed through the network until all nodes can compute the denominator in (20). Finally, the update of the dual variables is given by…”

“…The expanding field of distributed signal processing in wireless sensor networks (WSN) has brought forward algorithms for distributed signal estimation [19], noise control and echo cancellation [20], as well as beamforming [21,20]. However, research into the task of BSI is limited.…”

“…DANSE can significantly reduce the required number of signals communicated between nodes in a WASN with many sensors per node, compared to a centralised MWF where nodes communicate with a single fusion centre. Although the DANSE algorithm has been tested under various conditions and for different tasks [4], a key aspect allowing its robust deployment in real-world scenarios has yet to be addressed, namely, signals asynchronicity.…”
