Distal biceps repair through a single incision with the use of a knotless cortical button device: Mid-term results

Abstract: Background Distal biceps rupture presents with an increasing incidence and evidence suggests that although a surgical repair is not mandatory, it results in superior functional outcomes when compared to non-operative management. As implant technology has advanced, several devices have been utilised and studied in managing this pathology. We present our single-centre experience with the use of the ToggleLoc Ziploop reattachment device, a knotless cortical button implant, using a single-incision technique. Metho… Show more

“…This latest series from New York (New York, USA) reported on the five-year results of the longitudinal study. 2 Overall, 272 patients from nonoperative group, and range of motion improved in both groups with no betweengroup significant differences. No differences were identified between acromial fractures or spine fractures, nor between those of differing acromial morphology or slope.…”

“…Knotless cortical button implants, which deploy from the volar side, are available, and this group from Bristol (UK) presented their mid-term results using this kind of device. 2 The study population consisted of a good number of 70 consecutive distal biceps tendon repairs all of which were performed using the ToggleLoc, Ziploop (Zimmer Biomet, USA) implant and a standardized single incision technique with standardized postoperative rehabilitation. Data were collected retrospectively over a six-year period and the mean follow-up after surgery was 45.6 months.…”
