“…Based on an assumption of a straight dissolution path (dotted lines), CaTiO 3 is likely to form on the surface of TiO 2 particle while CaO.6Al 2 O 3 and Al 2 O 3 might form on the surface of Al 2 TiO 5 particle. In a previous study on dissolution mechanism of TiO 2 in same slag by Ren et al, CaTiO 3 phase was detected at the interface between CaO–SiO 2 –Al 2 O 3 type slag and TiO 2 rod in the temperature range between 1370 and 1430 °C. The liquid phase field on the phase diagram for TiO 2 is much larger than the corresponding phase profile for the Al 2 TiO 5 slag system which implicates a higher thermodynamic driving force for TiO 2 dissolution than Al 2 TiO 5 dissolution.…”
