Dissipation and Residue of Bifenthrin in Wheat under Field Conditions

Abstract: Field trials were carried out to investigate the dissipation and residue levels of bifenthrin in wheat. After extraction with acetonitrile, the samples were cleaned up by dispersive solid-phase extraction and detected by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. The half-lives of bifenthrin in wheat seedlings ranged from 2.4 to 10.5 days. At harvest time, the terminal residues of bifenthrin were below the maximum residue limit (0.5 mg/kg) set by Codex Alimentarius Committee or European Union in wheat grain, which … Show more

“…Hence, photo-degradation of bifenthrin was prevented, which could have played a key role in faster dissipation of the residues in other crops. Furthermore, it has earlier been reported that the rainfall and wet weather favor faster dissipation of bifenthrin (Tewary et al 2005;You et al 2013). The mean of maximum temperature, minimum temperature, forenoon relative humidity, afternoon relative humidity, and open pan evaporation for 90 days from the date of imposing the treatments was 36.7°C, 24.3°C, 85.6%, 57.8%, and 5.1 mm/day, respectively.…”

“…The half-lives of bifenthrin in eggplant were worked out to be 3.3 and 4.1 days at two different locations in China, when the insecticide was applied at the rate of 480 g a.i./ha (Shi et al 2016). In wheat seedlings, the half-lives of bifenthrin were reported to vary between 2.4 and 10.5 days across three different locations in China (You et al 2013). Faster dissipation of bifenthrin in one of the three locations involved in the study was attributed to moderate rainfall within a day after spraying and more precipitation during the experimental period.…”

“…[15][16][17][18][19][20] A ESL/PBT foi aplicada para avaliar a dissipação do fungicida sistêmico difenoconazol em morangos durante seis aplicações sucessivas do produto comercial. As concentrações residuais de difenoconazol determinadas, em triplicata, durante os seis tratamentos nos diferentes dias são apresentadas na Figura 5.…”

“…BIF [2‐methylbiphenyl‐3‐ylmethyl( Z )‐(1 RS )‐ cis ‐3‐(2‐chloro‐3,3,3‐trifluoroprop‐1‐enyl)‐2,2‐dimethyl cyclopropanecarboxylate] is a synthetic pyrethroid insecticide with a comprehensive acaricidal and insecticidal activity (Tewary et al, 2005). It is used worldwide in agriculture to kill pests on contact upon its ingestion, affecting the nervous system (Mukherjee et al, 2010; You et al, 2013). BIF has been classified as Toxicity Class II, moderately toxic, by the US Environmental Protection Agency (WHO, 2009).…”
