Disseminating data with time constraint based on multichannel over ubiquitous computing environments

Abstract: Time-constrained service plays an important role in ubiquitous services. However, the resource constraints of ubiquitous computing systems make it difficult to satisfy timing requirements of supported strategies. In this study, we study scheduling strategies for mobile data program with timing constraints in the form of deadlines. Unlike previously proposed scheduling algorithms for mobile systems which aim to minimize the mean access time, our goal is to identify scheduling algorithms for ubiquitous systems t… Show more

“…Instead, similar to previous work [11], we use broadcast ticks as a measure of time. The greatest advantage of this approach is that the results are not limited to any particular bandwidth and/or data item size.…”

“…A broadcast cycle is defined as one transmission of the periodic broadcast program. Deadline constraints have been integrated into the broadcast model described in [16]. In order to minimize the total number of deadlines missed by making the most effective use of the available bandwidth, scheduling approach has to focus on critical factors such as access frequency, time constraint, and bandwidth requirements.…”

“…The first paper [3], "Disseminating Data with Time Constraint Based on Multichannel over Ubiquitous Computing Environments," by Chiang (Technology and Science Institute of Northern Taiwan, Taiwan) and Shih (National Central University, Taiwan) studies scheduling strategies for mobile data program with timing constraints in the form of deadlines. It then proposes a dynamic adjustment approach for the timely delivery of data to mobile clients, called scheduling priority of mobile data with time constraint.…”
