Disseminated histiocytic sarcoma in Asian palm civet (<i>Paradoxurus hermaphroditus</i>)

Abstract: Running head: HISTIOCYTIC SARCOMA IN CIVET This case study had focused on a male, 7-year-old Asian palm civet (Paradoxurus hermaphroditus) with a history of biting its tail and the development of skin masses around its inguinal area, prior to its death. Macroscopically, multiple firm white nodular masses of 0.5-5 cm in diameter were found in the subcutis of the inguinal area, and in the lungs, spleen and liver. In dogs, this neoplasm occurs more frequently in certain breeds, including Bernese Mountain Dogs and Flat-Coated Retrievers [ 1 ].…”

“…In 18 of 90 domestic rabbits diagnosed with localized and disseminated HS, the lung was the most frequently affected organ, followed by the liver (Bertram et al 2020). Nevertheless, cutaneous HS with evident multinucleated giant cells and lymph node involvement has been reported in the upper lip of a Netherland Dwarf rabbit ( Oryctolagus cuniculus ; Karim et al 2017) and in dogs ( Canis lupus familiaris ; Moore 2014), and a disseminated form has been described in an Asian civet ( Paradoxurus hermaphroditus ; Boonsri et al 2021). We did not detect any metastasis in either regional lymph nodes or other internal organs.…”
