Dissection of hybrid soft tissue models using position-based dynamics

Abstract: This paper describes an interactive dissection approach for hybrid soft tissue models governed by position-based dynamics. Our framework makes use of a hybrid geometric model comprising both surface and volumetric meshes. The fine surface triangular mesh is used to represent the exterior structure of soft tissue models. Meanwhile, the interior structure of soft tissues is constructed by coarser tetrahedral meshes, which are also employed as physical models participating in dynamic simulation. The less details … Show more

“…Pan et al combine different methods and gives a series of deformation simulation results. When combining PBD with mesh‐based methods, they use a hybrid model representing the simulated object surface with high‐resolution triangular meshes, while the internal structure is represented with coarse tetrahedral meshes; thus, smaller computational costs are required to simulate deformation. They proposed efficient, stable and fast deformation and interaction techniques, they combined implicit models with triangular surface to improve the simulation efficiency .…”

“…To improve the influence caused by topology change, Wu et al , proposed fast topology modification optimization. To improve the simulation efficiency, the hybrid dissection methods and implicit shape‐based dissection are developed. To simulate multi‐layer material cutting, spring‐based multi‐layer soft object dissection has been proposed in , which uses implicit adhesive springs to connect each layer.…”
