Dissecting entrepreneurial team research: a bibliometric analysis

Abstract: Despite the massive volume of published articles, the pool of knowledge on entrepreneurial teams needs to be algorithmically classified and meticulously scrutinised. It is crucial for the field to be historically positioned under relevant themes, internally connected in terms of conceptual foundations, and systematically categorised in consonance with previously utilised frameworks of analysis. These concerns are resolved in this study by conducting a bibliometric analysis of 672 relevant articles. This form o… Show more

“…For the last 3 decades, scholars have closely examined what factors lead to the success of entrepreneurial teams. Factors such as experience, team size and network structure are vital components in explaining the variations in diverse performance measures (Horvatinovic et al, 2023). However, the effect of these factors, amongst others, are not direct but regularly influence team performance via the mechanism of team emergent states (Horvatinovic et al, 2023).…”

However, the effect of these factors, amongst others, are not direct but regularly influence team performance via the mechanism of team emergent states (Horvatinovic et al, 2023). Many components of team emergent states have been proposed, two of which are the focus of this study, namely transactive memory systems (TMSs), a cognitive team emergent state and team entrepreneurial passion (TEP), an affective team emergent state.…”

“…In the course of preparing our systematic review, we came across numerous bibliometric analyses, particularly those focusing on university spin-offs (USOs) or academic spin-offs (ASOs) ( [12][13][14][15][16]), the alternative perspective we seek to offer in this systematic literature review represents a critical step in advancing the understanding of university-industry collaboration, particularly in the area of university spin-off creation. It recognises and seeks to address the limitations identified in previous reviews, including those by Park et al [17], Hossinger et al [18], Abramo et al [19], Bastos et al [20] and Forliano et al [21], in order to provide a more comprehensive understanding of this evolving field.…”
