Abstract: Asian Americans are the only racial/ethnic group in the U.S. for which cancer is the leading cause of death in men and women, unlike heart disease for all other groups. Asian Americans face a confluence of cancer risks, with high rates of cancers endemic to their countries of origin because of infectious and cultural reasons, as well as increasing rates of "western" cancers that are due in part to assimilation to the American diet and lifestyle. “…Liver cancer incidence and mortality are significantly high, disproportionally affecting Asian residing in the United States (U.S.). The incidence of liver cancer for Asian American men is 19.9 per 100,000 and women is 7.4 per 100,000, in comparison to 10.8 per 100,000 for non-Hispanic white men and 3.7 for non-Hispanic white women, respectively [2,3]. Chronic Hepatitis B Virus (HBV) disproportionately affects Asian Americans, where they represent 6% of the total U.S. population but make up 58% of HBV-linked hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) cases [4].…”

“…For patients in need of health care, lack of insurance and language barriers may be insurmountable roadblocks. The Affordable Care Act has largely closed the insurance coverage gap between previously uninsured Asian American adults and their White counterparts, with Asian Americans having the overall lowest uninsured rate of all US racial and ethnic groups by 2018 ( 65 , 66 ). Still, a wide range in insurance rates across Asian American groups exists.…”
