“…As mentioned above, this is most probably due to the accelerated self-decomposition of ozone at a high concentration. It was reported that a transferred ozone dose of 30-50 mg/L achieved a 2 log reduction of fecal coliform in the effluent of a wastewater treatment plant (Gehr et al, 2003). Our results show that an ozone dose of 100 mg/L could achieve a 3.3-3.9 log reduction of total bacteria in lagoon samples, but about 1.1-1.8 Â 10 4 cfu/mL bacteria still survived the ozone treatment.…”

“…The dissolved oxygen concentration and the pH were determined with a dissolved oxygen meter (HQ30D, Hach, USA) and automatic potentiometric titrator meter (ZD-2, LEICI, China) respectively at 20 ºC. The gaseous ozone concentration was mesasured with the iodometric method [13]. The concentration of dissolved ozone was tested with the indigo colorimetric method (Standard Method 4500-O 3 B) [14].…”

“…Embora o ozônio seja um desinfetante bastante utilizado para águas de abastecimento, ele não é muito aplicado para desinfecção de águas residuárias em função da alta exigência, em quantidade de ozônio (ROBSON & RICE, 1991;XU et al, 2002;GEHR et al, 2003).…”
