Diseases Linked to Polypharmacy in Elderly Patients

Abstract: Introduction Polypharmacy in several cases is deemed necessary and elderly patients are prone to this phenomenon. The objective of this study was to identify the prevalence and the predictors of polypharmacy among consecutively unplanned admissions of patients aged ≥65 years. However, number of medications used (1-3 medications) was found to be associated with pre-frailty, whereas taking four or more medications was not associated with pre-frailty [48].
