“…Thus [ 125 I]IUdR may be used as a cell cycle‐specific radioactive chemotherapeutic agent to target tumour cells with high efficacy and minimal toxicity to neighbouring cells owing to its short range of activity. Because of its favourable toxicity profile, this agent has already been used in early clinical studies for treatment of cancer33, 34, and has also been administered in phase I trials as a regional hepatic therapy for irresectable liver tumours34.
