The President.The PRESIDEXT, in moving a vote of thanks to the Author, remarked that his Paper dealt exclusively with the subject of single-phase railu-ays, and dealt with it in a singularly exhaustive manner, considering the small space into which the Author had managed ta get all he had to .say. H e did not think any important point had been left untouched, although of course elaboration of details was impracticable within such limits. The -4uthor. The AUTHOR exhibited a series of lantern-slides illustrating the equipment of the Murnau-Ober-Ammergau, Cologne-Bonn, Zossen, and Swedish State railways, and explained that the curves shown for the compensated series motor (Fig. 2) were the results of tests made on the motors being used on the Hamburg-Altona line, which were also to be used on the single-phase railway between the Hague and Rotterdam.
