Discussion on the Value of Vaginal Cytology in the Diagnosis of Carcinoma

Abstract: IT appears to me that at the present time the value of the cytological examination of the vaginal smear lies firstly in its use in preliminary diagnosis. Experience gained abroad and in this country shows that the cytological method possesses a considerable degree of accuracy in the diagnosis of carcinoma, and especially of the cervix. Graham (1953), working in Voston, stated that cancer cells were found in 423 of 469 cases of squamous-cell carcinoma
