Discussion on the electrical state of the upper atmosphere
Abstract:Sir Ernest Rutherford: During the last few years there have been a number of new lines of attack bearing on the problem of the constitution and electrical state of the upper atmosphere. The work of Lindemann and Dobson on falling meteors has suggested that the pressure of the upper atmosphere calculated on the ordinary theory is seriously in error, and they conclude that the atmosphere above the isothermal layer of temperature about 220° A. rises to about 300° A. For heights of the order of 100 km. the pressur… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
