The learning approach is always being the concern of educators to increase the quality of engineering education. Engineering education is essential in order to nurture quality engineers and prepare the workforce for country development. Coming to Industrial 4.0, modern engineering education has combined ICT technology to meet the demand of Education 4.0. This paper aims to review blended learning to enhanced engineering education using flipped classroom approach. The paper starts with an overview of the current trend of engineering education, which encourages using blended learning approach. Blended learning was developed to overcome the advantages and disadvantages of traditional learning and online learning, which brings a better learning experience to students. From the review, the blended learning using flipped classroom approach have positively assisted students in their learning. Future ongoing research is recommended to explore the potential of flipped classroom approach use in supporting engineering education specifically in the context of Malaysia.

“…In [21], Duan painted a more nuanced picture of the mental state of traumatized groups in a virtual environment after conducting a questionnaire-based survey at Communication University of China and analyzing the respondents' attitudes towards online community learning where the social presence was digitally enabled. During the 10th International Conference on Educational and Information Technology held in January 2021 [22], Mu et al proposed an "online hybrid" teaching model of engineering drawing in the context of epidemic situation, compared online teaching with the onsite classroom teaching of the same course, and found that there was no significant difference between the two in terms of learning effect. China had made a remarkable headway in online education provision during the first quarter of 2020 due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak, a global public health crisis that acted as a catalyst for the uptake in online education as a method for students’ e-learning and teachers’ e-teaching at a vast number of institutions worldwide. China’s launching of XuetangX Global and iCourse International, two massive online open course (MOOC) platforms in April 2020 to provide distant e-learning solutions to global learners at a time they were most needed, proves to be a timely move as the global challenge caused by this pandemic turned out to be an opportunity in disguise for online education internationally. This article centers around China’s opportune development in online education and launching university MOOCs internationally in the height of the worsening COVID-19 pandemic in early 2020 and examines its preparedness, implementation, and impact.

BackgroundResearch into enhancing the effectiveness of information delivery in asynchronous video lectures remains sparse. This study analyzes the nonverbal teaching behaviours in asynchronous online videos, drawing comparisons between pre‐service and in‐service teachers (ITs).ObjectivesThis research primarily aims to juxtapose the nonverbal teaching behaviours, such as arm extensions and body orientation, utilized by pre‐service teachers (PTs) and ITs within asynchronous online videos.MethodsAsynchronous video lectures from four pre‐service and four ITs across four diverse subject topics were scrutinized. Leveraging deep learning technology, teachers' poses during their instruction towards a video camera were quantified, with a particular focus on arm stretch range and body orientation in relation to the subject being taught.ResultsThe findings revealed that PTs were deficient in effectively employing pointing gestures. Their arm stretches and body orientation towards the board were not differentiated across subjects. Conversely, ITs demonstrated subject‐specific variations in their arm extension and body orientation, signalling their effective strategies for knowledge dissemination.Conclusions and DiscussionThis study emphasizes the importance of assessing nonverbal teaching behaviours in the development of effective instructional training. It accentuates the need for nonverbal communication and subject‐specific teaching strategy training in PTs. Future investigations could broaden their scope to include larger sample sizes and expanded subject areas to discern more comprehensive trends in nonverbal teaching behaviours.
