Abstract:Cables used singly, or in multiple cable mooring systems, to secure floating structures such as ships, buoys and drilling rigs, present significant analytical difficulties in the determination of static cable configuration and stress distribution. Analysis of the dynamic behavior of mooring systems becomes even more complex with fewer possibilities for predicting motion. This paper explains the fundamental concepts underlying the discrete parameter approach to static analysis and examines it by comparison with… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
