Abstract: SUMOylation is a reversible post–translational modification (PTM) involving covalent attachment of small ubiquitin-related modifier (SUMO) proteins to substrate proteins. Dysregulation of SUMOylation and deSUMOylation results in cellular malfunction and is linked to various diseases, such as cancer.
