Discovering novel hub genes and pathways associated with the pathogenesis of psoriasis

Abstract: In-depth analysis on the rambling genes of psoriasis may help to identify the pathologic mechanism of this disease. However, this has seldom been performed. Using bioinformatic approaches, we analyzed four gene expression profiles in gene expression omnibus (GEO) database, identified the differentially expressed genes (DEGs), and found out the overlapping DEGs (common DEGs, CDEGs) in the above four profiles. The CDEGs were further subjected to Gene Ontology (GO) enrichment analysis, Kyoto encyclopedia of genes… Show more

“…IFN-inducible oligoadenylate synthetases-like (OASL) protein belongs to atypical oligoadenylate synthetase (OAS) family, possesses antiviral activity, and boosts the innate immunity [34,35]. Gao LJ et al also identi ed OASL as a hub gene [21], but it is rarely studied in psoriasis patients. Additionally, OASL wasn't enriched in the top 5 pathways in our study.…”

“…[ 34 ] The interferon-inducible oligoadenylate synthetases-like (OASL) protein belongs to the atypical oligoadenylate synthetase family, possesses anti-viral activity, and boosts innate immunity. [ 35 , 36 ] Gao et al [ 7 ] also identified OASL as a hub gene, but it has been rarely studied in psoriasis patients. Although the expression of OASL was up-regulated in M5-induced HaCaT cells in our study, this needs to be further confirmed.…”

“…Although previous studies have separately explored the hub genes associated with psoriasis ( 45 ) and atherosclerosis ( 46 ). However, few studies have explored the common molecular mechanism between them by advanced bioinformatics methods.…”
