The COVID-19 pandemic has implications for changing the attitudes and behavior of the world community, including in the field of education. The Indonesian government, in this case, has decided to study from home (BDR) for schools to universities in addition to the work from home (WFH) policy. BDR challenges have both advantages and disadvantages. Among the weaknesses that need to be watched out for is the burnout of children in online learning from home, which cannot be denied because similar conditions are also experienced by parents, which erode the enthusiasm for learning to spirituality in the family. Therefore, this paper examines how to reconstruct the spiritualization of education for children in families amid COVID-19. This qualitative research used a descriptive approach, describing the data obtained from the interpretation of the term "tazkiyah" in the Qur’an and verses related to children's education to be contextualized into building the spiritualization concept of children's education in the perspective of Qur'anic Sufism. As part of the literature research, the data analysis adopted Gadamer's hermeneutics developed by Fakhrudin Faiz that hermeneutics revolves around text, context, and contextualization. The results showed that parents have a major role in children's education amid COVID-19 as the prominent educators in the family. These findings corroborate the opinions of Comenius, Nasih Ulwan, Abdurrahaman An-Nahlawi, and Ki Hajar Dewantara about the importance of family education. The spiritualization of children's education in the perspective of Quranic Sufism integrates the three theologies in religion as proposed by Barbour, namely the theology of revelation, natural theology, and religious experience. Therefore, the spiritualization of children's education is a necessity.

Disaster management action should be built up through developing metacognitive and action skills. The metacognitive strategy includes aspects of knowledge about when and how to use it by type, specific technique, and response that are assumed related to deal with disasters. Therefore, this study was aimed to assess the metacognitive abilities of millennials who are affected by disasters and its relation to disaster management. This study used an observatory exploration and inventory (EOI) method involving 248 respondents in flood-prone areas in the city of Semarang. Data were obtained using a questionnaire-based Guttman model electronic survey as many as 52 statements to inventory metacognition abilities and 48 statements related to actions in flood disaster management. Data were analyzed using Pearson’s linear and regression analysis. The non-parametric analysis: Kruskal-Wallis test was run to distinguish metacognitive scores in dealing with food-related problems among millennials groups. For metacognitive awareness, the cognition knowledge was higher than controlling knowledge (p < 0.05). The highest score of metacognitive variables was debugging strategy, which represents a corrective attitude. As described in the value of conditional knowledge, the ability to think fast shows that the millennials are quickly responding and understanding how to act. Most of the respondent actively involved in mitigation and rehabilitation as a volunteer in youth-events such us mangrove planting and cleaning plastic-trash in coastal areas. But, lack involvement of millennial in arranging flood-disaster management make less youth’s responsibility during the disaster. It should be overcome to create a comprehensive approach to community-based disaster resilience.

Flood is a common and frequent natural disaster in many countries that causes huge economic losses and casualties every year. Youth participation in flood disaster management (FDM) has not been much explored, especially in the non-prone area but contributing to flooding resilience. Therefore, this study aims to identify youth participation in disaster management to help an improvement in preparedness action. The research was conducted using a qualitative model: case study research, involving 191 young people aged 14-35-years in 16 sub-districts in Semarang City. The data, including youth’s action, knowledge, and participation in FDM, was collected using Google Form, observation, and interview, then statistically analyzed using Mann-Whitney’s test and path analysis. The results show the respondents in flood-affected areas are more actively participating in flood disaster management action because of their experience in facing flooding. Also, the planning step is significantly influenced by the FDM implementation. The planning process is the main defining factor in disaster management successfulness and essentially affecting mitigation, rehabilitation, and evaluation steps. The level of youth participation is deemed necessary to be increased to develop a more comprehensive disaster management program according to regional needs. We suggest that FDM should be transformed into disaster awareness which is delivered through education, socialization, training, and/or flood disaster response simulations.
