Direction of arrival estimation in urban multipath environments

Abstract

A calculation method is suggested to estimate the angle of arrival errors incurred by multipath components in urban environments. The transmitted signal replicas due to reflection, diffraction and scattering in such a medium can affect the radar performance. The method to evaluate the complex electric field incident at the radar receiver considers ray-tracing simulations and the target bi-static radar cross section. This contribution will allow development of appropriate radar target detection techniques.
